SD 702 Track Writing Question
« on: January 03, 2008, 07:24:30 AM »
I recently bought Duelings SD 702 (nice box) and recorded two shows this past week. It is set at 24/96 and I noticed that the SD 702 writes a new seamless track after 51:54 minutes of playtime.

I remember when I first git my PMD 671 the original owner had it set to write a new track every 10 minutes (which I changed) but I don't seem to see anything in the 702 guide dealing with this.

Is this a setting that needs to be changed on the menu or is because of the size file due to recording at 24/96?

Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like it is set to cut files at 2 gig intervals.  I run 24/48 and also have it set at 2 gig splits but get close to two hours per file.

You don't need to change it and I believe it is still recomended to use 2 gig splits so you should be all set!!

51:54 is default setting for the 7XX series for 24/96.  I am pretty sure this is around 1.7 GB or so.

There is a setting in the setup menu for track size.  You can set it to 4GB.  I have on my 722.  The start of a new track should be seamless, however.

Enjoy that SD.  I sure like mine.  Easy to use, rugged and good sounding.  Folks claim others sound better.  I am sure they do. but I am very pleased with my SD.

Cheers

Actually, that is the split time when recording to CF. If you record to the HDD (if applicable, not in this case) then the split will be around 57:31 or so.  ;)
