for starters, I am a complete noob when it comes to video.
my scenario: I have a ReplayTV (think TiVO, but older) and I want to copy the shows I record over to my Mac(s), edit out commercials and then burn to DVD.
the files that copy over are *.mpeg but I cant open/import them in iMovie unless I convert them first.
Quicktime Pro plays the *.mpeg fine.
here is where I am lost.
do I have Quicktime export to .mov? I have all ready tried .mp4(mpeg4) but the resulting file does not have audio.
is iMovie the best to edit the shows and place chapters or is there a easier/better option that doesnt run $100+?
then burn the resulting file(s) with iDVD or will the editing program create a .iso/.dmg I can use DiskUtility to burn with?
thanks,
