Hey Folks, I've just purchased a vr box from jerome jello over on the yard sale and was wondering how it handles power from multiple batteries connected. Here is a link to the thread with a photo: http://taperssection.com/index.php/topic,103240.msg1379278.html#msg1379278

Custom made by Marc Kim, this is the VR jr box that has one 4 pin xlr on each side. The input cable was modded by a member here (mike) to be ra (fit better in the bag). the input has 2 pigtail plugs for the dvd batteries we all use. i dont know if it is a parallel or serial connection (meaning i dont know if with 2 batteries the voltage goes to 18v or if it stays at 9v and ups the mAh for a longer run time). The output is a straight xlr 4pin with a cable at 5v with a JB3 connector and a cable at input voltage with a ua-5 connector (wired with the correct ua-5 polarity).
Does anyone know if indeed with two batts connected if it goes to 18v or stays at 9v and ups the mAH?

9V. Once one battery runs down the other one kicks in with no interruption.

I think "x" output(s) for the UA5 is 9v or what ever you feed it and the other "y" output(s) is for the NJB3 5v. When I built my DIY VR Box I had the input voltage 9.6 split w/ resisters to another output plug to tone down to 5v for NJB3.

Yep, I understand the output, I was asking about the input, ie: if two batts are plugged in at the same time, is it draining them both simultaneously, or one at a time, thus increasing the mAH. According to low spark, its the latter, which would be ideal. Basically two 5400 mAH batts turns into 10,800 mAH. SWEET! Thanks guys, +T

mine was also 9v only
as stated it was able to hook a 2nd battery up so not to lose power
"hot swappable" marc told me

Well, here is the deal, it must be wired in PARALLEL, rather than series. If you wire your batteries in SERIES, ONLY the VOLTAGE would double. However, if you wire them in PARALLEL, ONLY your mah rating will double ;)
I know this because Marc Kim(Leegeddy) wired me a special custom 3 x Tamiya RC Connectors>3-Amp Fuse>4-Pin XLR for my 722 dummy cell powering method. He wired them in PARALLEL, so that ONLY the mah rating would triple, and not the voltage. Therefor, if you wired them in SERIES, I have would instead have a 21.6volt battery, with a 3000mah rating, which would be very bad for my 722 ;) I instead have a 7.2v/9000mah battery instead ;)
So in order for (2) 9volt batteries to be wired like that, he sired them in PARALLEL, otehrwise, you would ahve an 18volt battery ;) like i said, wire din parallel, ONLY your mah rating goes up. I would say that is what he did.
so you have a VR Box, that is wired in PARALLEL to allow (2) 9v dvd batteries to be used ;)
