Go with Mandrake.. There's a definate difference in the ease of use.  Mandrake is much more well suited for the n00b, has more "fun features", looks cooler, etc.

Redhat is more business oriented, less pretty, harder to navigate, and will contain less fun stuff more work oriented stuff.

Any questions about linux, mandrake or redhat don't hesistate to ask.

Provided you don't have nVidia video card or on board chipset for your video output and something other then a WinModem the install/setup of your hardware should be a breeze.

Linux as a whole doesn't get along well with nVidia stuff thanks to their not sharing the information pertaining to their proprietary drivers and hardware.

Good call with the Mandrake.  I could also give some help with proftpd, apache and ipchains.  After you install it, update it with all the security patches and your set.

If it's a three disc install skip the third ISO, it's just the multi-language support and I'd assume you only want English :)

I say redhat, but that is only because I did installation support for them back in the 6.0 and 6.1 days ;D
