DPA 4061's Powered from R-09HR?
« on: July 21, 2011, 03:49:16 PM »
HI folks. I've never tried it, but what are the likely side-effects of powering a pair of DPA 4061's direct from my R-09HR's mic jack? Less headroom? Something else? I have a quiet show to tape tonight (acoustic jazz duo of piano and vocals only), and was wondering, as an experiment, if this would cut it.

If it does power them at all, it might work since the show is quiet. The issues would probably be distortion when the signal gets fairly loud.

I wouldn't risk it though unless you are running it as a 2nd system. DPA recommends way more voltage than the little bit over 3 volts that the HR provides (although the Marantz PMD-620's 4.6 volts seem to power my 4060's just fine).

AT853's (all caps)/CM-300 Franken Naks (CP-1,2,3)/JBMod Nak 700's (CP-701,702) > Tascam DR-680
Or Sonic Studios DSM-6 > M10
