Bag for Apogee Mini Me/Schoeps VMS 02IB Pre/MTII/Battery?????
« on: October 23, 2008, 09:49:29 PM »
I purchased a beautiful rig from mule tapir extordinaire Dan Blan 8 years ago, turnkey with an old DOMKE camera bag and ApogeeAD500e (upgraded to Minime), Schoeps VMS, M1 (upgraded to MTII) & SLA

I'd like to fit it out in something a little easier to use, but the minime has such a funky form factor, what are people using to bag these goodies nowadaze?

thx- Mike

Mountainsmith Cairn will hold the MME upright with right angle connections but it's tight. I would also look in the Day as I believe it is just a bit taller than the Cairn. Neither of these bags have any padding though.

I couldn't find the Carin II (out of production), but I did end up w/ a LL Bean small single strap backpack (same as the C-II) that is the same size and works like a charm.  Try to find a kids small backpack...

Thanks for all the input  ;D ;D!

A backpack type bag almost makes sense given the size of the mini me.......I hate to put any pressure on the connects on the end, even when using right angle connects

It will be nice to get all this in one bag........at the Jefferson Starship show last month, I put everything out on the table, and the waitress commented...."oh, I didnt know we were having a science fair this evening....what is your project?"  ::)

They are hard to find now but the older Rakgear bags are perfect for the apogees. Plus the shelving is perfect for pre's and recorders. A bit big but does the job well. I've been doing a few theatre shows so I switched to a Nova 5 for now. Keep the mini-me on it's side.

The color is not the best but this is the bag. It should have a rack system inside.

As far as stress on the mini-me cables. I went to linens and things and bought the long size kitchen rack and ziptied the minime to it. Just enough room so it protects the dials from being bumped as well as the cables. The legs pull right off of the rack.

I sometimes use an old Camelbak Hawg w/ right angle cables for the MMP when I need to travel light, but to run it upright you have to use the hook at the top of the bag and velcro it to something else upright.

Nice, I like the cage approach

the osprey bag is great for the mini-me (in a wooden box) and a m248 or vms02ib, plus active cables/etc....

I used the RakGear bag for a while, which fits the MiniMe fine, but the bag itself is too massive for easy use in a lot of sections.  I moved to a Sonic Case and that is a much better option if you lay the MiniMe sideways while connecting the cables out of the side vents.  The Mountainsmith Day will also work, but I was always afraid of placing too much stress on the cables and the bag does not stand upright.
