Title: Boom extension
Post by: boojum on October 11, 2007, 01:42:12 PM
Can anyone point me towards a source for a 4" mic stand/boom extension?  Standard 5/8" 27 screw pitch threads at each end, female down, male up.  I need it to put together a Jecklin disc.  I have searched the net but have not found one yet.  I kind of think there would be one out there.  Not a flexible extension, that will not work for me.

TIA!   8)

You can make one. You'll need a dowel, some mic adapters and some JB Weld. I made several similar items and they work very well using this combination. Then you can spray the entire thing whatever color you want (just don't spray the adapters).

Wayne, thanks.  I thought I could do this, but wanted to see if there were an off-the-shelf item to do it.  The Jecklin disc itself is pretty hokey looking so the dowel and all will just blend in.  Let's see what the sound is like.  Yes!

Cheers

YES!  At last.  You da man!   Thank you.  I searched the net with Google, Froogle, and Yahoo, shopping and otherwise, poked around audio dealers but could not find the right words to conjure up a page hit.  Thanks again.

Yes, your welcome. When looking for mic stand hardware, always check with Atlas.

Well, the site you gave me is for a wholesaler, and I had to e-mail their distributor in Washington to get a retailer in Portland.  But, you pointed me to a source that had what I needed.  I bookmarked the page.   :)

If that's Portland, ME I'd be interested to know what the retailer is. Might check them out next time I'm up there.
