just saw on their webpage...either they are going high end, all the time, or coming out with a new entry level line...

All the discountinued models are the ones they were having made in China. I wonder if they decided to stop producing in that country. All the models they currently list are hand assembled in California.

I would send an email here:
vonschweikert@integra.net <vonschweikert@integra.net>
and ask...who knows...they may have a set that they havent gotten rid of yet...
-
i bet they do.
if you are local to New England, Janka here on the section has a sweet pair of stands for his vr1's, which he no longer owns. i'm sure he'd let em go.
-
Yes, I sure would. They are Target Audio HR-60's, not the actual VSA stands. My VR-1's did fit them perfectly though. http://www.targethifi.co.uk/4598/4790.html (http://www.targethifi.co.uk/4598/4790.html)

All of these models are still available at www.NewForHalf.com. These are apparently the last new stock available at liquidation prices. And, this same seller has been advertising on Audiogon.com and Ebay.com.
-
whoa...
good prices. $1499 for VR2's. thats a super deal on a reference quality full range speaker.
no sub needed w/those puppies.

-

what he said
-
and I cant emphasize enough how good they sound...
-
VR-1s arrived today, exactly 7 days after I mailed the Money Order. Warren at newforhalf was great to deal with and speakers sound fantastic behind my Arcam amp so far. Can't wait till they get broken in a little more. Most of the discoloration is on the underside of the speaker as well ;D
next step is building some stands in the next few weeks
-
enjoy!
-
I am curious about these guys... the main office is a few miles from my home.. I will go and investigate...

i emailed back and forth with Warren - he took a day or so to respond each time but always answered my questions. i asked about pickup but he prefers to ship. nice guy and great prices - they take paypal as well but you need to cover the fees. im curious to see what other gear they have once they clear out the von schweikert stuff
-
I've emailed this guy and so has a friend of mine with NO reply. We were looking for VR1's. I saw his Ebay listing and he has 2 subs and a pair of VR2's but no VR1's. J are you happy with yours ?

he didn't have any more Vr-1s when i 1st contacted him a few weeks ago and just had one or two pairs of the B-stock - not sure if he has any of the b-stock still.
i've only had them one night but am very happy with my purchase so far :)
-
Thanks, like I said we have both emailed him so ..... we'll give him a bit maybe he works in mysterious ways ..... and obtains pairs from floating stray cargo from afar .... LOL
Good luck with them I'm sure you'll enjoy them for a long time to come.
Were yours B Stock ?
-
that's a good deal
what he said
only if it comes with the sexy soft sleeping bags too! :P

yeah mine are B-stock
they have some graying on them from being placed in the bags too soon after the finish was applied but 90% of the discoloration is on the bottom of the speaker so you can't even tell ;D speakers were brand new otherwise, still in the factory boxes and velour bags
-
sexy bitches!
thats a 2nd pair i'd own. they are just a smidge too small for my living room. I bet now that I have better amplification than I did back when i ran mine....., it'd be different.
-
I have been told that stand mounted speakers will not pass the GAF or I would sell my B&W's for a pair...

Albert has had a shipping container sitting in customs for a while now because he cannot afford to get the shipment out, thus the discontinuation of the overseas made speakers. Good speakers, bad businessman unfortunately.

an entrepreneurial businessman should help Albert out

Floods are accidents, but when you don't have a plan to recover, ample insurance, or a sound profitable business beforehand that's what I call fucking up your operations.
Taking an attitude with everyone who can't or won't help you out after is also not a good idea. I've got alot of good friends from Watertown, and they'll tell you it was well publicized that he burned bridges about as fast as a man can in a small town.
Great speakers, I love mine, just a poor businessman all around it seems.
-
i'm still thinking of rounding out my system with some vr1 rears to replace my old tannoys

Someone on here got a pair for under $400 shipped to them. That is a steal in my book. I paid more for mine used!
-

A small, young company that designs, builds, and sells niche-market loudspeakers is lucky to be in business in the first place! Beyond that I have to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially considering an insurance company was involved.

I keep going back and forth on a set of VR-1s to round mine out, I just dont have the damn space...irritating
-

-
just sent him an email about some VR-1's. Thanks for the link.

Fronts: Tannoy Mercury MX2-M
Center: Tannoy Mercury MX2-C
Rears: Tannoy M2-IW
Sub: Sony SA WM500 (mod podge/polyfil mod)

oh, I still love the M2's, but I do have to say, the VR1s are no slouch.
If I got a pair of vr1s for rears, I'd still keep the m2s. I'd just figure out some other use for them :)

he was pretty slow about responding to emails when I got my pair last month. at that point he had No VR-1s left and only had one or two pairs of B-Stock left, I doubt he's got any at this point but you may just need to drop him another line. good luck - I'm loving my pair
