Maggie 3.3R  $1500 !!!!!!
fucking A yes.  tempted to sell my VR4s for these, but my stupid Sony would never drive them.
too bad.  maybe next time.

I dream of this as my next system:

Grace 902 DAC driving a pair of Manley Snapper 100w mono > Maggie 3.2/3/5/6...whichever I can find.  3.3 preffered due to price/performance over the new 3.6
Maybe a pair of subs if needed.

well, the beauty of it is...you could always pick up the VR4s again.  they are not uncommon.
I know, i'd miss them.
but I also have fond memories of my maggie days

backatha.  first step into tube playback.  I'm under the impression that since I like guitar toob amps way more than ss guitar amps, I'd prolly feel the same way with my playback.

I also am prolly going to buy a sub from Ducati - just want to see what this thing does, and looks like in the back. Does yours have a subwoofer output?  If so, what form is it?

Congrats on the new purchase pfife.   :)

It seems like the number tube fluffers around here might finally be catching up to the number of the sony fluffers.  ;D

mine has rca left and right sub outputs... I only have 1 sub and it has a single rca input so I'm just running the left side...

I love my amp, it is a great piece of gear. The two units use different tubes I think but the build and sound quality of my amp is fantastic, I'm sure you'll like it...

I was wondering how that thing was treating you. I've been digging through my collection and relistening to everything!

this weekend a friend of mine (Dave Baker - he started wspshn yahoogroup if any of you know him) is staying with me, first real audio friend I've had stay here since I got the new amp, I can't wait to throw some of his favorite tapes on for him ;D

do I smell a team ASL?  (or is that just a bunch of fuckin wooks that need to shower...)  ;)

+ts - the playback forum was very helpful in informing me of what to purchase... I'm actually at a relatively satisfied point with the taping rig, so I needed something to frivolously spend money on,  which I shouldn't spend...

Love the sony.
with its soundstage...paired with MMGs...it would be mind blowing.
but it wouldn't have the coconuts to drive 3.3s.  That would take gobs of power/current and solid 4ohm output...which it ain't got.
I think its optimized around 6ohm.  Perfect for finichy dynamic speakers...but not so good for pannels.

Congrats on the new purchase pfife.   :)

I have a string of a bazillion tube posts I'm tapping out for the coming weeks...  I've rolled through 9 varieties of 12AX7s in my pre and I have 4 sets of power tubes for my amp.  Lots of fluffing coming up.  haha

Congrats again pfife--that's a honey of an amp.

You were much help.  Totally appreciate it.  +t  I'm like 99% sure on that sub.

Sweet, man!  I have it all cleaned up and ready to go.  I was cleaning that room this weekend, anyway.  Spring cleaning 'round these parts ;)

An AQ1001 could generate much pain with a pair of hereseys indoors.
You won't ever be over 12 o'clock on the volume knob, I'll bet.
+T  ! for a great amp and a great set of speaks.
