omni config in a shed?
« on: August 04, 2004, 08:25:24 AM »
i know omnis in a shed is not ideal...but i will be taping both phish tweeter center shows (thanks again grayp!) and i just got m27 caps and i really want to hear them.  i was thinking of running cards the second night, and omnis the first.  anyone ever make a good tape w/ omnis in a shed?  would you suggest healy techniqe, j-disc, or spaced mics?  i was thinking of the healy technique since it would not involve me creating a j-disc or bringing an extra clamp.  i will most likely try out the split omnis @ coventry.  thanks.

i tried once for DMB but the situation was less than ideal. too far back off to  the side. ran healy method.  not so good.  my be a different story if more centered and ran split. but even still after my first experience if i had to do it over again from the same spot, it would have been XY hypers all the way. so if you got the hypers and are in the section i'd go for those DIN or DINA(17cm90º). of course IMO

yeah split omnis in Coventry! 8)

edit: i should say that a j-disc might be the optium for a shed as it may cut down on some boom from  being far away in sheds.
