Garage sale find : Shure 315 . But how do I diy the cable?
« on: November 16, 2017, 11:57:12 PM »
Hey there everybody.
I came across a few great mics at a garage sale and one of them is a Shure 315 gradient ribbon model.

Great looking.  Found a few Billie Holiday photos with it....

It did not come with the chord but I tracked down the connection parts and am not quite sure how to wire this all up.
I need to go from amphenol 3 pin to xlr.

The mic has the amphenol female. And I tracked down the correct amohenolmale.
So I want to make this amphenol male to xlr cable.

Would it be okay  to simply buy an xlr cable , slice off the end I don’t need and attach those to the amphenol connector ,  and then to the mic?

Yes, and either the Shure site or Coutant site should have the wiring diagram.  Nice find.  It won't like wind of any kind!
