AKG caps?
« on: December 07, 2004, 11:50:29 PM »
been looking into caps for akg blueline series,  couple of questions here 1)  Are Prices listed are per cap?(180ish$) 2)  If prices are for single caps does  akg sell matched caps?   3) wouldn't Akg have to have excellent quality control for discerning tapers to buy unmatched caps.

I really wouldn't be concerned about matching when buying from AKG, Neumann, Schoeps, or MG. These are long standing companies with great reputations and "excellent quality control". I would aonly be concerned when dealing with lowerend mic companies.

The prices you're seeing are per cap.
I’ve had a few weird experiences and a few close brushes with total weirdness of one sort or another, but nothing that’s really freaked me out or made me feel too awful about it. - Jerry Garcia

yes they are, but if you email sonic sense and tell them you are a member of taperssection and ask them to quote you a price they will be even cheaper than that  ;)

For single caps, they don't sell matched products for anything except for one type of C414 mic.

3) wouldn't Akg have to have excellent quality control for discerning tapers to buy unmatched caps.
Very good quality control I would not worry at all
mics & cameras

my bodies (480's not the 300's) seem to me about 1 or 2 db difference.  not that big of a deal to me.  gain knobs fix that.

fwiw - most mics are only matched within 1-2db's

I just picked up a set of ck93 hyper caps from Sonic Sense and I got a good price on them and it included shipping. PM me if you want to know how much they were.
