I think some, I know not all, but some use AC phantom maybe 130v?

Other than that, they look damn cool.

No, all my mics are grey.   :)

Blue makes a line of mics, all of them have very recognizable exteriors. They go from some odd looking balls to things like the Blue Bottle, which has to be one of the elite level mics. All of them tend to have a very specific "sound" engineered into them, different for every type of mic. This makes them the perfect choice for some situations, and rather difficult to use in others.

Which of the Blue mics were you thinking of?

G.

I picked up a pair of vintage 451's a while ago, and now I'm thinking about the lollipop capsules.  Everything I've read has been very complimentary of the sound of this combo, but in the field taping application I wondered how it would fare.  Most of my recordings these days are 2 ambient room mics that are part of a full 24 channel multitrack.  So it's not really all that critical to the final mix in the multitrack, but it would be great if the 2 mic tracks could stand nicely by themselves.  So far I've read they do very well with a little distance between them and the source, which would make them ideal for stage miking I think...

I posted this on RO as well, so you may see it over there too.
