Apparently RadioShack website still works.  Haven't gone to check out yet though...

I just grabbed the Talent cell as well to power the R44 and Aerco together. R44 is m tip.  It appears the 12v connector is an N-tip.  Would the 9v out be 'M' then?

https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-adaptaplug-n
https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-6ft-power-cord-for-adaptaplug

Went ahead and ordered two cables.  One M > M, one M > N.  $24, free shipping.  Not bad.  If you use a VPN and say you're in DE or NH, you won't pay taxes.   >:D

That I am not sure off the top of my head, but I can check when I get home.

Check out this thread. It has all the tip sizes.   http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=150794.0

The talentcell is 1A, but the r44 specs says 1.5A.

Has anyone successfully powered theirs on 1A?

The talentcell outputs "3A max", per specs.  I read them wrong.

The adapter on the R-44 side of the cable is definitely tip style "M".

With the "DVD" (RB-270) batteries that I use, the tip style is "B" (which makes for a nice mnemonic: "B" = battery, "M" = machine), but of course other batteries may need other plug/tips.

I followed this route and received the items today, swapped the M tip on the cable to reverse the polarity and the R44 powered on just fine.  The connectors were jostled and rotated with no power loss.

The downside of course is the 6 ft cable and our resident cable makers can surely produce a more robust and customized solution, but this seems to work for now.  More tests to follow.

I bought this one to power an external pre and the recorder at the same time.  Have yet to give it a full test though.

The Shure FP-24 has center pin positive (+), unlike the R-44, which is center negative (-).  The talentcell (also center positive) will work with each, but needs to be wired accordingly. In the picture above you'll notice I swapped one of the end connectors to provide the correct polarity for the R-44.  To power the FP-24 with the above wiring setup, you simply wouldn't "flip" the adaptaplug connector at the pre's end.  You would also need to make sure you have the correct connector to fit the FP-24.

See the polarity symbol of the power input for the FP-24 here versus the R-44 here

Hey all, I'm happy to be the new owner of Chomps' R44 - looking forward to using it & will be skimming these threads over the next few days/weeks!

First question - any issues with going XLR in w/ a SBD feed? I know to turn the phantom power off, but just wondering if anyone has had experience with feeds being too hot? That might not be a R44 specific question I guess, but I've generally always went in w/ a 1/8" attenuator. Wondering if I'll need something similar for XLR

I bought a -12db set of XLRs just for this, and never needed them. They were good for other stuff, but the R44 takes a hot board really well.
once again, lost in all the noise
