Looking for an adapter for my stand
« on: February 26, 2008, 12:39:29 PM »
Somehow I lost the adapter to my FOB stand.  Where can I get another one.  I can't remember where I got this one.  It's a very small thread and needs to insert to a Shure Vert Bar.

New planent is righ ton the Rapid adaper is the best here is a pic:

And the akg!:

You definitely want the rapid adapter even though it would work with most stands with just the akg adapere. This make is much easier to break down and take things on and off he stand in a pinch..

The stand I have has a male 3/8" inch on the top, and I will need a 5/8" (I think) for the Vert Bar.  Will the Rapid Adapter take care of that?

I have about 5 adapters that will fit the Vert Bar, but none are small enough to fit the stand.

I believe so. You install the Rapid Adapter and then the 3/8 > 5/8 adapter on the top where the hex bolt is in the picture above and magic.

I used this setup for my AKG bar. +T to all that recommended these adapters.

Read above the akq adapter is exactly what you want...  but with the rapid adapter it enables you to break down easier..

Well, maybe...assuming the stand has a 5/8"-male stud.  Not all stands will accommodate the Rapidapter.  If your stand has a 5/8"-male stud, then I agree the Rapidapter + the 3/8" > 5/8" thread adapter's the way to go.  If your stand will not accommodate the Rapidapter, then stick with just the 3/8" > 5/8" thread adapter.

How about a pic of the stand tip?  Or a link to a pic online of the stand you use?  That may help rule out any uncertainty regarding what will work.

I am pretty sure the one on top is what I have to connect to.  A 3/8" male.

Thanks

Last time.. Read above..

The rapid adapter will slide over the top of your stand and secure... The rapid adapter has the same 3/8's as your stand so you can put The akg (takes a 3/8ths male... and coverts to 5/8ths) for your vert bar..

I am pretty sure the one on top is what I have to connect to.  A 3/8" male.

In that case, both options will work:  Rapidapter (w/ 3/8" male tip; they also make one with a 1/4" tip) + 3/8"-female > 5/8"-male thread adapter, or just the thread adapter.  Personally, I prefer the Rapidapter option.

Now that we have confirmation about the tip on the stand, yes - the above Rapidapter recommendation makes sense.  But it didn't make much sense in the context of a strictly 3/8" threaded tip, or without enough information to know it was a viable solution for his stand.

Offering answers/advice without first understanding the specific issue or scenario at hand happens a lot on TS.  I think it behooves us all (myself included) to ask questions first, before providing answers which may or may not be appropriate, or accurate.
