iOS Recording Apps?
« on: September 29, 2023, 12:54:29 PM »
Anybody have a preferred iOS recording app? Picked up a dvice to use with my phone, but seems like the majority of iOS DAWs are geared towards digital instruments/production as opposed to having robust recording features.

Roland Zentracker is a nice free one that I've used. Locks into whatever you have plugged into phone, and you can set up as many channels as you want.

For multitracking, I prefer Cubasis, which is the phone version of Cubase. Cost about $50 but I like the interface.

I was recommended AUM, which costs $20, but I didn't really like the interface. Might work for you.
Audio: Countryman B3 + AT853(hypers/cards/subcards) + SBD feeds
Wireless Receivers: Lots of those
Antennas: Lots of those
Cables: Lots of those
Recorders: TE TX-6, Zoom L20R, Zoom F8, (3) Tascam 680, (3) Tascam 2D, Zoom H6, and a graveyard of irivers/nomads/minidiscs.

Now I am using Apogee Metarecorder.

I had bad surprises, but that in fact has nothing to do with app itself.
If (during recording) you push and hold home button - be sure - recording will be interrupted and stopped. Therefore suggestion - disable SIRI when recording

My pretaping routine:
1. Home - Settings - Do not disturb
2. Hardware silence switch on the phone - set to silent
3. Home - Settings - General - Accessibility - Home button - Siri - OFF
4. best one to end up: Home - Settings - Airplane mode - Enable it ;)

Good luck.
in fact I have separate iPhone for recording
BTW if you tape with Apogee - tape it to CAF format. This format allows to record files bigger than 2GB. Wav files are limited up to 2GB and recording stops.

Thanks for all that, particularly the file size limit. Would have found that out the hard way. I ended up going with Metarecorder after cycling through all the recommendations. Cleanest interface, with ease of exporting. Will be testing it out this week and then running for U2 over the weekend
