Squeezebox wired directly to a PC
« on: December 04, 2009, 01:37:18 AM »
I have no router, switch, hub, or internet connection.  Just a wired version of the SB3 and a crossover cable.  Is there any step by step instructions on how to do this?  I want to connect my PC directly to my main stereo system with SB3.  Been working on this all night and about to give up on it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.    :-\

Figured it out!  Finally!  Here it is for stand alone PC or laptop:

I used a Cables To Go Cat6 Network Cable from Comp USA

Static IP for both units:

PC:  IP: 192.168.000.002
       Mask: 255.255.255.000
       Gateway: (empty)
       DNS server(s): (empty)

SB3: IP: 192.168.000.001
       Mask: 255.255.255.000
       Gateway: 000.000.000.000
       DNS server(s): 000.000.000.000

SqueezeboxServer IP: whatever is shown under Diagnostics and/or Information on the software.  Make sure this address is in your SB3.

*** Make sure that you type in the Name of your PC on the SB3 and choose that for connecting.  You will find that in the initial Settings setup on the SB3
