Title: How to repair charger?

I haven't taped in forever, and I'm getting my gear ready for tomorrow only to realize my charger is broken.  This is an oade brothers 12v SLA charger I use to power my mini me. 

The wires are disconnected from the charger.  There are just 2.  The Red that also has a tiny strip of black on it, and the black.

I know red is positive and black is negative but if I just wrap the lose wire around the chargers it doesn't appear to charge.  When I plug in just the plug with no wiring the charging light is on.  I believe that only the power light should be on when its not charging and when charging both lights are on.

Anyone know how I rewire this?  Just need a ghetto fix to get my batteries charged once.

I believe the sla batteries die if you don't keep them charged.  How long has it been?
