the soundfields B format (the 4chan ouptut) is not simply 4 tracks. It has to do w/the angle of the array, which i'm sure come into play w/the "matrixing" to stereo or surround signals.

Yeah, I know it is decoded with a special "matrix". All I'm saying is *hardware wise* you need four channels. Record to four channels and use some software to decode to whatever (stereo) format you want. I'm not sure if there are plug ins to do this or if I have to do this myself though.
