Title: Anyone else bought 2 9.6V Powerizer 3000mAh batteries w/ charger?
Post by: Tye on March 11, 2004, 10:35:02 PM
I bought these batteries recently (pic is below)
I was wondering if they come fully charged.
I plugged one into my UA5 and it worked. I don't want to overcharge it, is that possible.
So to those who have bought these did you run yours out of the box ? did they last? how long?
 Thanks :spin:

They ship with some charge but don't worry about it.  Just plug 'em in and let charge until it warms up.  That puny 200mA charger won't damage your 3000mAh batteries.  They'll just dissipate the extra energy as heat once they're charged (not that you want to leave them chargin unnecessarily).

Great thanks for the help guys. I was planning on ordering there smart charger. Now I see they have a package deal for 2 of the same batteries with the smart charger for only $8 more! Damn it!
I charged one since 8pm last night so I figure that one is good for a band I am taping tonight.

well damn all I have to do now is just fit one of those generators in my backpack ;D I used one the batteries at Keller Williams last night and it ran just fine for the close to 3 hours. Anyone have a good idea just how long these will last with 48v phantom power on?

Ahem.  :P  Check the Archival Info forum's UA-5 FAQ.
I may be showing my ignorance here, but won't the total run-time of the pack depend on the mA draw of the mics you have plugged into the UA-5?  I'm considering buying mics that draw 3x more juice than my current mics, and I'd love to get the same run-time.

Yeah, it has an impact, but minimally.  BCostigan I think posted the actual equation at some point, lemme see if I can find it.
