I'm looking for a 12v to run a power inverter.
The power inverter runs off a cig lighter adapter. Or 2 small clips like jumper cables. I have no experience with SLA's. Could I just run the clips on the battery without making any mods to it?
Thanks many t+'s for the help.

i recommend a PowerSonic PS-12XX. you can get them in variety of AmpHour ratings.

many have "Faston" quick disconnect tabs. i would replace your aligator clips with female Faston tabs (go to RadioShaq).
http://www.mouser.com has a good supply of them in stock.
good luck,

You can buy SLAs locally and save on the shipping. Check a non-RS electronics store, they should have 'em.

i think my 12v sla was bout $40, and charger maybe 20, i run my deck off a cig lighter from a car on the sla, i just went to the local O'Reily's auto store, and bought a new one for replacement, soldered my contacts on, and plugged it in and works like a charm. if you need help with it, pm me, i'll send you some pics, or make it for ya if you want. let me know.

I originally got 2 from batteries plus, but you can get them real cheap from batterymart.com
Then I got one of the radioshack cigarette lighter jacks w/ the huge alligator clips on both ends, cut those off and crimped on those female quick disconnect tabs that someone was talking about. I just put a piece of duck tape over the whole thing to keep it secure (and protect the terminals) when I'm taping, then I take off the car end and just have the battery w/ the duck tape over the terminals, and stick them in my bag. If you want to soldier it on, great, but then you'll have to make a cigarette lighter connector for your charger. I usually charge mine w/ the alligator clips that came w/ my carger, but I made a cigarette lighter plug adapter for it. I don't have a working digital camera or I'd take a picture of what I made, and my printer/scanner is broken right now or I'd try to scan in the cables, lol.
