Source/txt files
« on: December 22, 2004, 03:55:43 PM »
I've never been very happy with the source .txt files I create for FLAC'ed recordings. Does anyone have a really good easy to use template? Or maybe just post some good source files you've seen?

I like to start with most specific and go to most general myself:
Band
Date
City
Venue

YMMV...

...I know that part...  :P

I'm talking about a graphically nicely layed out file...

Not quite sure what you're looking for, but I always like setting my numbers off with periods or brackets to differentiate them from the rest of the text, aligning multiple encore songs, and using different characters to set off different notes. A sample:

Yeah, I've been using one like this:

Band name
Venue name
City, State
Date of show

Source: sdfsdfsdfsdffsdf
Taper: sdfsdfsdfsdf

[-DISC 1-]

Set 1

01  00:00  Track number one
02  00:00  Track number two etc...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Notes: asfsdfhrjgj

I like to but in the track times too. I thought maybe some graphic artist types might have come up with really pleasing formats to provide the basic info...

Eh, it takes me two seconds to do...of course, a couple of years, when I've suffered a repetitive stress injury, I may rethink my position.

Of course, by then, xACT will be taping shows for me, hooking me up with beer and doobage, pointing out hot chicks in the immediate vicinity of the taper section and pulling double duty as a wing man... I assume all of these are on your to-do list, no?

Well...it's only a text file, so not sure what you mean by graphically nice layout.  I posted my template in the Archival Info forum if you're curious.

i use the track list program and then just write in the track names and then just copy and paste my source info from another show to the top, change mic location, and band/venue/city info and viola

i forget where i got the track list program but its a simple exe that scans a set of CDs and then prints numbers and times for you and total times. anyone have that thing still?
