its only a matter of time now until that stuff is affordable. It should give PCs a great speed increase since the HDD is such a bottleneck in many many applications.

One Terabyte on one CD or DVD sized Disc.  How long would that take to burn?

A lot shorter than the 1500 hours it would take to record that on DAT.

I wouldn't be surprised to see computers with the OS and programs installed onto solid state memory within the next few years. Can't wait to see how fast OSX or Windows starts on a solid state drive. I don't think it will be like a light switch but it will be a lot faster. I think my XP system has about 20 Gigs worth of drive space dedicated to the OS and programs, so that would fit on a 32 gig drive!
