Hey gang, trying to decide on either a 10 ' or a 13 ' stand (yes the J&K group stands on ebay).
13' is only another 8 bucks, but the footprint is 12"wider. so in a tight situation where I can't open it up all the way, i suppose i'm losing some stability ? especially with heavy LD mics (ADK TL) ?
basically, which would you do ?
thanks,
john

totally venue & PA dependent, but it is rare I have a desire to run higher than 12'. Most of the time I'm running 8-10'. Space is almost always an issue, I'd stick with the 10'er with smaller footprint.
-
i have had a 17', a 13' and now a 9'. i used to run a pair of LDs and with the larger stands it works best if you dont extend them all the way, unless it is needed ( often it is not ). but when in doubt i would just go with the larger stand, you are not restricked any, but dont have to use it all...:)
hope that helps

i have thrown my adk's up in the 12' range at the fillmore in denver. was running xy hypers and wanted to stay away from the chatter as much as possible.

I'd go with the smaller footprint. But thats just cause my footprint is big & it sucks.

Does Bogen make a 13' or 9' with the quick locks like my 17'?

What kind of locks are on the 3333? Does look like quick locks but doesn't look like twist knobs either.

Mine has twist knobs.
-
Are they a pain or not too big of a hassle?

Never had any problems with them. Check 'em out on Thursday @ NMAS.

That I can do.

i got a bogen 3373, the 13', i dont think i think the only time i ever ran full bore was bonnaroo mainstage for the dead this year with my c1000 hypers, you only need that hieght for monsterous stacks on a festie mainstage, but you don ever have to extend it all the way or get the largest footprint to be stable, mine have the twisty knobs or whatever and ive never had a problem, hope this helps

Started looking at the heights when they are closed and my stand is only 2" longer so I guess its not worth it.

what kind of Taylor do you play?
For some reason I sold my 410ce... that was a beautiful guitar!
-
Martin's all the way!!!!!!!
Taylor is good too.
-
I've got a '97 310 that sounds sweet.
I really need to play more. I suck because I don't practice enough.
-
I really like Martin but Taylor has the built in Fishman pickup systems... well worth the added cost if you are going to use them on stage
-
I suck waaaay too much to get onstage and do more than three-chord rhythm.
-
my old roomate has a 310ce... STL knows him, Shawn Eckels, once I saw that guitar I had to have one!
-
Yeah, they are nice boxes of wood. Had a hard time deciding what I wanted when I got mine, but I have a songwriter friend (www.jonathankingham.com) who is sponsored by Taylor and he sold me on them pretty well.
The guitar I'd love to have, but could never afford and would never deserve would be an Olson (www.olsonguitars.com). James Taylor has played them for quite a while, Phil Keaggy too. Beautiful guitars.

Hey Tim, have you recovered from your Halloween weekend?
