Thoughts on configs for U89i, for Coventry
« on: July 03, 2004, 12:08:43 AM »
Ok, Looks like Trey Woodruff has offered me the opprotunity to borrow his U89i>V3. It will be my first time running both pieces of gear. I'm not concerned about the V3 so much. The U89's are a different story. SO I'm looking for some thoughts on different configs for the LD wonders. Thoughts?

well I normally run ak50's or 40's>v3 but have used tim's u89's twice this year.1st time,3rd night vegas and they came out
pretty decent considering the amount of coaching I had(tim) ;)ran them hyper but I think the spacing was a liiittle too tight
but oh well. then I recently used them 1st night deer creek and and let's just say I wasted good battery power and tapes.
tim was a little later coming in the gate and had begun his day 8)already so we just kind of threw them up so to speak. talk
about way off axis! :obut I now have an idea about what I'm doing,if I ever get tim's on loan after the break up I plan to do much
playing around with them.

I think our plan for vermont is to run split omni's with the u89's but haven't really talked spacing yet(maybe 4-8') and i'll let matt run the 50's again to get all the neuman sources covered. it would be nice to have 2 u89 sources w/different set ups to do a comp.

I was thinking Omni's depending on where we can set up and the section location and all.

if you dont have 2 stands/clamps for split omnis, running subcards is always a good call.  I had real good luck running u89s with cards in RIA which is about 21cm@90/100*.  Granted it was in a completely different setting, still good results.

Jonny,
I pretty much just plan on setting up where everyone else does. If it's the section then so be it. If it's FOB then Thats cool as well.

I guess spaced omni's seem to make the most sense. I'll have to dig to see how far those Big Cypress U89's were spaced. Just as a starting point.
