So I do sound for public access TV. I use my two V2's primarily because the SBD pre's suck. Anyhow we finally got some new equipment so I don't have to have the bands bring amps for various things like standup basses and keys...etc...
So tuesday night I ran a standup bass pickup into an Behringer Ultra DI > V2 > SBD ...
Man! CRYSTAL clear...can't wait to do this with keys or accoustic guitar.
Anyone else ever run DI > V2 ?

You shouldn't need to use the V2 after the DI box...
The DI box's purpose is to convert the bass pickup signal to line level. At that point you shouldn't have to amplify the signal (with the V2 or with the mixing board) very much to get a strong signal.
How much amplification were you doing with the V2? It won't hurt anything, but my guess is that you weren't adding too much either.

two things first the the DI provides a low-Z impedance signal (600 Ohm) so to V2 brings it up to the K Ohm range to pass to line in on the SBD.
Second the DI needs phantom to run.

Cool, I'm sure it sounds mighty fine.
Most times when you use a DI box with a mixing console, you can use the +48 from the console.
The mixing console should also be capable of receiving the low-z balanced signal.
Either way, no harm in using the V2, and it will provide some nice clean gain and signal path on the way into the mixer.

Right you have to run through a mic-pre no matter what with a DI. As I mentioned the SBD's pre's are weak ass. Line-in to the board skips it's pre but line-in is hi-z.

That Behringer DI really isnt too bad...one of their better products...IMO
I actually carry one around - and anyone who I've lent it to loves it...
FYI - the Ultra DI is active, and runs on phantom power...has 2 -20db pads also.
Not sure what the active part does?
Point is - the improvement might not be totally due to the V2... :-\

Behringer and wow don't belong together in a sentence.....unless you are saying something like, "wow, this Behringer sounds like a toy". Just sayin'...

The Behringer is just helping out the V2 conveniently sending me a low z signal through a 100 foot snake.
