Any one own one ??? Or have any positive/negative feedback??? I can purchase one fairly cheap right now w/ a $299 rebate until 4-30-05.

I asked this same question myself: http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=35796.0, but never got an answer, so I just went with it. Well, my wife did. She got it as a bday present for me, but it hasn't arrived yet. Should today. I'll post some initial feedback later today or tomorrow when it shows up.

Well, right out of the box, the damn CF card was missing. But Nikon Customer Support was very nice and are shipping one out to me. No biggy, it's just a starter, and I have a 256mb at home, but it's the principle of the whole thing.
It's a wee bit bigger than the 880 I have. Love the flip out, adjustable screen. It's small, but I like that flexability. That's about as far as I've gotten so far.

I've got the 5200 and for that price, it's a great deal. I do some more advanced photography than point and shoot so I would have liked to be able to control shutter speed and aperature, but as a ponit and shoot it does have a lot of features, and great photo quality. The movies you can make are quite good as well (relatively, of course) though they are made in quicktime, unfortunately.

Hey Diamond D, How does show photos come out w/ the 5400 and also I read the dig/photo review of the 5400 and I thought you could adjust the ISO 50-400 and the aperture +/- 4.

You can adjust the ISO and aperture on the 5400. Didn't get a chance to play with it too much last night, other than the point-and-shoot aspect of the camera. I'm really like it though. Just need a show to go to and test it out...Maybe the ambulance ltds this saturday...

yep, exposure and ISO you can control, and it's got quite a good flash in it too. Here's a shot I took at a show at my club last fall (Sam Roberts Band, from Montreal, if you're curious), I had another one blown up to a 20"x16" poster and it's fantastic, to give you an idea of the quality it can do (this is the 5200)

Very nice, I can not waite to try mine out at a show. I shot some pics of my gear this weekend after I scored my 5400 and I was very impressed by the quality.

One thing I've noticed with my 5400 is NOISE...
I've also noticed the noise will appear in the exact same locations... (but not every pic has it)
This worries me... it almost seems like I have bad "pixles" in my ccd. I'd never noticed ANY noise with my old sony.
Also low light focusing is horrible.

So far I've not been all that impressed with this camera... But I'm still learning all the controls/features.
Also I've had the camera lock up on me a couple times now... where I had to remove the battery to reset it.
And it takes a REALLY long time to write data from the buffer after doing continuous shooting or a video clip. Sometimes it can take minutes. Which really sucks.
Basically this camera is getting me used to setting WB/ISO, shutter speed, aperature, etc manually - then someday I will shell out the $$$ for a digital slr. The D70 body is down to about $400.
