So I downloaded Scott Brown's moe. from 6.21.03, and it's a beautiful 24/96 show. I'm very new to this .flac stuff, and I'm wondering if there's any way to author this stuff to a DVD to play it back on a DVD-A player. Problem is I don't have any DVD-A authoring software, so am I SOL, or is there some way to construct a .cue file in notepad to do this? Or some other way to do something with this audio to play it back through my home stereo system?
If it comes down to it, I could ressurrect my old PC in the basement and make that a dedicated audio player, and just wire that in to my reciever via my UA5.

I think the only program that makes DVD-A discs is Discwelder Steel, which is PC only (and apparently pretty expensive). You could burn it as a DVD-Video disc with either a blank screen or a picture as the video.
The easiest thing to do would probably be to ressurrect that PC and just play from the hard drive. Probably a lot less expensive as well. ;)

Follow up - can DVD-Video discs handle 24/96, or does it max out at 16/48 or 24/48?
-
I'm know they at least do 24/48, I'm not sure about 24/96 (never burned one)...
-
they can do 2496. i made a dvd video disc with that 2496 audio on it and a dumb background image from the moe. website
send me a blank and i can burn it for you. email me

i really would love to rip the screen saver from finding nemo (fish tank) and put that in front of a show in the background
-
that's a great idea...
-
Awesome, thanks Scott! I was also wondering if you have any 24/96 DMB or D&T recordings on any servers anywhere? I'd love to hear some of those as well.
-
what program do you use to burn the audio with a background?
-
apple's dvd studio pro
jeremy, i did both hartford '02 shows in 24/48 (4022 > mp2 > ad2k > emagic emi 2|6 > iboook) but then converted to .ape and damn monkey's audio compressor corrupted a bunch of tracks from each show. NEVER AGAIN will i use monkey's audio compressor. i have .ape files i can't convert to wav, and i deleted the original wavs thinking the compressed ones were fine
did dave and tim 3-28-03 in 24/48 4022 > minime > powerbook, dmb gorges 4022 > v3 preamp > metric halo uln2 @ 2496 > powerbook, and dmb hartfords this year 4022 > v3 @ 24/44.1 > uln2 > powerbook. hartford sound this year was definitely not as good as previous years though...sounded like the pre 2000 sound was back there
-
can you still play the .ape files, maybe you could play them and record them in a different program at the same time.

tried, no luck. the monkey's audio guy said "it happens"
well it's never happened with shn or flac for me
-
I've only used .ape a couple of times and i have mixed feeling about it, at the moment, flac is my favorite. Thats crappy about the files.

damn macs, anyone have any software that can do this on a PC?
-
Jeremy - I have this year's Nissan show in 24/96 and this year's D&T hartford. Both are SR77>ULN-2>Powerbook.
-
managed to save both dmb hartford 24 bit sources. 4022 > mp2 > ad2k
i am liking 7-26 a whole lot at the moment
