I've been thinking about wiring our house for ethernet. I did this in our last house by dropping Cat5 from the attic and it was pretty straight forward.
Our current house has a phone and coax cable line in every room and I've found 2 rooms that also have an ethernet jack. The phone lines all connect to a distribution panel that is an unmarked jumbled mess in the drywall in the garage. There are 4 Cat6 ethernet terminated cables also going into the cutout where the distribution panel is located. There is no switch and the cables are not marked. I have no idea where any of the cables lead and as I said, I can only find 2 ethernet outlets.
I do not want to pull new cable or cut drywall. I'd be willing to hire someone to set this up but don't know where to find someone to do it.
We have a cable modem through TWC, an Apple Airport Extreme, Time Capsule and 3 Airport Expresses. The idea would be to wire all these together through a switch.
I've considered using powerline adapters, but have no experience with these. I've also thought about converting the phone jacks to ethernet as I believe Cat5 cable was used, but have no idea how to figure out where they lead from the garage.
Any idea who I could call or how I could figure out where everything goes from the distribution?
