general battery box questions
« on: April 02, 2005, 12:58:12 PM »
ok, i know that a lot of the battery boxes that are offered by sp can be configured with bass roll off or attenuators, but my question is do these boxes provide anything else to the mics?  aren't the boxes just basically a power source?  some one at sam ash told me i wouldnt be able to power the mics without phantom... i explaned that the mics i have 853a were capable of both, and that i want to start with battery power.

also does anyone have experience with at8331's?  can i drop a 9v battery (AA size) in there instead of the usual 1.5v AA?  are there internal things that will not like that?

i tell you what though - after just fooling around with these at8331 power modules i am in dire NEED of a power solution.  1.5v does NOT cut it.

still on the quest for a DIY battery box... and thanks leegeddy for the tips  ;D  i am going to try that swap w/ at on monday.
