So I guess the TRS inputs are noisier than the 1/8"? Seems strange that that would be the case.

I think there is a misunderstanding here... don't understand why Doug said that. Either I misundertood something or maybe it was a mis-type. Definately messed up why we prefer 1/4 and the use of balance cables. I might email him and ask why he said it.

Because, due to the way the MT24/96 was designed, the 1/4" inputs are the only inputs which can be used at a line level. In most cases, if you attempt to use the 1/8" input as a "line in" you risk distorting the signal.

The 1/8" jack on mine is MUCH noisier than the TRS jacks. I was considering selling mine and buying one from Doug if he was upgrading the pre so I'm definitely bummed. Looks like I'll have to stick with an external.
