mini-dac is a digital-to-analog converter.  what you need is an analog-to-digital converter like the Apogee MiniMe.

You would use the DAC with a playback system, i.e. DAT player> Mini-DAC> amp> speakers or computer soundcard digi out> DAC> amp> speakers.
Schoeps cmc6/4v / Beyer mc950 / Line Audio CM3, OM1 / ADK A51 / Church Audio CA-14
Naiant Tinybox v2.2 / NBox(P) / Church Audio ST9200 / CA-UGLY
Sony PCM-M10 / Zoom F3 / Zoom F6

My bad I thought that was a analog to digital with out the pre amp in it.

I was reading that wrong.

I guess they dont have a  (new) ADC with out a pre amp in it. I see the new MP has anyone tried this out?

I've run the MP once and have heard a few tapes, Mr. Nizzle on this board runs one. I liked what I heard, from what I can remember it was clean and tight sounding... sorry I can't be much more descriptive than that. Sounded a bit like a V2 but it's been awhile since I've listened.

it's not a very common piece of gear. I only know of one other person that runs one

Who are "they"?

There are lots of ADC's w/o pre-amplifiers...

I have run 4022>v2>apogee minime before. It made some great tapes. But not as good as the 4022>v3 tapes I make now.

Do some comps first. I myself prefer the V2/3>MMe sound over straight V3.

Some one on this board (cbd) did a nice v2/v3>MME comp a while back. I don't have it anymore, but I'm sure it can be found. I ran 4022>v2>MME for a little bit, so I have a couple shows lying around...
