Topic: Editing/mastering software

Hi folks.

I have a D5 in the attic but in recent years have been involved mainly in classical and church music.  I've been doing some casual recordings with an H340 and am thinking of doing some upgrading.

First question is, what do you guys do for editing and mastering software?  Do you do any postprocessing at all?  I want to be able to split my files up into tracks, normalize levels, tweak EQ, & do crossfades where appropriate.

Cool.  It even runs on Linux.

So, if I decide to move on from my H340, would I want to get a flash recorder like the Marantz 671 or get a decent firewire adapter for my laptop?  Since I'm usually recording myself and close friends stealth isn't a problem and I can usually get AC.

Perhaps Edison was right and Tesla's newfangled AC was a mistake.
