Title: 24/96 and encoding to FLAC w traders little helper
Post by: F.O.Bean on November 19, 2013, 01:33:35 AM
Hello, I recorded conspirator last Thursday at 24/96 and now when I go to encode the raw unedited 24/96 WAVS to FLAC, traders little helper won't/can't encode the 24/96 WAVS to FLAC ???I. Dunno WTF to do?I. Just installed the brand new FLAC front end that was recently released and I'm hoping that will solve the issue?!?! is the problem because the WAVS are each 3.6gb? they don't exceed 4gb so I have no clue what the problem is?

If ANYONE can help me, I'd really appreciate it ;)

Thanks,
Bean

I just DL'd and installed the newest version of FLAC Frontend, which I used for MANY YEARS before I switched to TLH, and it FLAC'd the 24/96 uncut WAVS no problem ;) So I'll just use FLAC Frontend for FLAC'ing my 24/96 master WAVS from now on ;)

Thanks anyway,
Bean

Me too, I've had problems using TLH on big 24/96 files.
I changed my workflow using more Audacity and less TLH (btw, it's not updated since may 2011...).

But to answer your question...when I did record at 24/96 I never had a problem encoding to FLAC with TLH.

did you happen to have the sector boundary box checked?  that will cause 24/xx to fail.

^ This.  Never had any issues encoding 24/96 files up to 4GB with TLH.

Nope. Just Encode at Level 8 and Delete Source Files checked ;)

Im guessing since the WAV was so close to 4GB? Because I have recorded 24/96 several times the last few years, and I NEVER had a problem with TLH encoding those 24/96 WAVS? But whatever, FLAC Frontend is MUCH QUICKER than it used to be, and it encodes WAVS that are pretty huge ;) Taking 2 seconds to use FLAC Frontend isnt an issue to me at all, so Ill continue using what works 100% of the time ;)

Why the fuck would you check "Delete source files"? ::)

this could be part of the nearby audacity thread, but why not just spit out 24/xxx flacs and use tlh for checksum?
