so i came across a KILLER deal on audiogon for a 7 foot bi wire pair of audiomagic sorcerer speaker cable (like 20 % of retail price)
they came today. jesus, these things are thick. what the hell am i supposed to do with them? can't wait for the speakers to arrive to hook them up. did a trial run with just the thick line on the old tannoys and damn, i've never heard bass like that from these speakers...
but what the hell? soooo thick
-
oh they're actually very flexible, much more flexible than the 1 meter sorcerer interconnect i used to have
but soo thick. and yes that read 20 percent of retail not 20% off retail. but had i known they were so thick....
-
Aren't the Tannoy's self-powered ?
-
tannoy makes plenty of regular speakers...
-
any more still available on audiogon?
-
that was it
-
of course they look thick next to a thumb ;-).
Nice catch. It's amazing what cables can do. When I got the MIT 750s, I heard the same thing you describe. I got more bass and there was a smoother definition all along the entire range. I never cease to enjoy the "WTF?" look on the faces of people when the see them for the first time.

i'm about to pick up some cables myself finally.
they are custom, hand made jobbies by a guy named "Gregg Stanley". They are supposed to be quite impressive, but ugly. Bright red and braided like licorice rope.
He lives in Chicago and is a member of an audiophile club there whos members include some big names in the hi-fi world. Big names as in owners, founders and designers of a lot of gear we use (the P of PS-Audio comes to mind, Paul something or another....)
any way, almost everyone in the club runs his cable, and they have ABA'd it against a lot of big dollar cables. I think he sells an 8' pair for under $200 !!
I'm going to build him a web site to help get his cable efforts rolling, and in return I get a free pair, a pair of jumpers and an IC. Pretty cool! I'm going to review them, though I dont have much to benchmark them against (MIT term 3 and term 2), but it should still be interesting.
I'll post here when I'm finished with it.
Scott, great score on those fatties you have! +T for the find.
-
nick, i dont have much use for my MIT 5's for the time being if you want to throw those in the mix for ab'ing them
-
term 5's?
I dont think I'll need to use those after teh term 3/2's I have go under the gun, but thanks for offering them up! +T to you my friend!
i'm loose w'the Ts today...watch out
-
