I will point out a negative of the 2le that is rarely mentioned.

If you format a CF card to 24/48, 24/96, 16/44, whatever...it will remain at the format until you re-format it. this probably isn't that big of a deal since we are not likely to change the recording bit while taping.

lots of people are happy with both of these recorders.

good point rastasean....at Mtn Jam I was recording 24/44.1 all weekend when I started running out of room on the SD card...luckily I was able to change the presets and started the next set at 16/44.1...is a very good option IMO
