Downloading from PCM-M10
« on: August 21, 2011, 01:55:03 PM »
Knowing the horrors of Sonic Stage, I'm thinking of buying a PCM-M10.

A question concerning Sound Forge....

If I record, say, 10 files and want to download all 10 to my computer, but still want to keep 3 within my PCM-M10 folder, can I? Or will Sound Forge  delete all 10 automatically from my recorder as it downloads to the computer? Will I have the option to keep files of my choosing on the 110 despite downloading them?

Thanks!

I just mount the M10 like an external hard drive, and drag and drop onto my desktop. No software needed for this.

GAKables
Dead Muppets

My recordings LMA / BT / TTD

Thanks, yes, I understand that. That still leaves the original question?

Ah, the scars of Minidisc and SonicHostage run deep.

Rest assured that recordings on the PCM-M10 are absolutely ordinary  .wav or .mp3 files and the PCM-M10 looks like any other hard drive (two of them with the microSD) on your computer. It is hard to equate Sony with sanity on this front, but it looks like they finally got it, down to having a nonproprietary connector, accepting a microSD card and using standard AAs.

Yes, the scars of both do run deep. Although I still like Minidisc, it's defintely not the medium for storing things you really care about. I've had enough with the random TOC errors. Time to move on and up!

You'll kick yourself for having waited so long. Have fun with your new toy!
