iRiver H120 Record at 96k?
« on: August 25, 2013, 03:36:17 AM »
My iRiver h120 only allows me to record at 44k/16bit max (wav). But on my iRiver h10 it lets me record 96k/16bit.

I also saw someone on Ebay selling an iRiver h120 and claiming that has rockbox and records at 96k. I was wondering whether this is possible and if so then what I am missing? I just updated rockbox to the latest version and even tried the dev build version but I can only see option for 44k.

thanks

here is the ebay listing and the seller says
"Rockbox has been installed! This enables the player to reproduce 24bit 88Khz and 24bit 96Khz files. The hard drive has been upgraded to 40GB. The battery has been replaced with a new and slightly larger capacity battery. It is in good condition. It may have some scratches or other imperfections from use."

Reproduce doesn't mean produce. A rockboxed H120 won't record in 24 bits. It will down sample and play them, I believe, but it definitely won't record them.

rockbox can record 24bit but not the hardware of the iriver. its still 16bit.
