Hard drives for recorder
« on: August 29, 2013, 02:12:46 AM »
I am looking to upgrade the hard drives on 3 of my recording devices. Problem is I don't know which hard drive to get, like not sure the model number or anything but here is all the info I have:

Device 1
- iRiver h10 5GB version uses (ST650211FX, ST660211FX, & ST650211FX)

Device 2
- iRiver h120 uses 20gb version uses (MK2004GAL)

Device 3
- iRiver h10 20GB version uses (HTC426020G7CE00)

I want to upgrade Device 1's hard drive anywhere from 40GB-120GB but have no idea which manufacturer has it and where to buy it.

I want to upgrade Device 2 and Device 3's hard drives anywhere from 60GB-120GB but have no idea which manufacturer has it and where to buy it.

Does anyone know exactly which one, I did research but I am not that good with hard ware. I just want to buy that harddrive so please tell me which one to buy

Tom's Hardware is a great resource for hard drives. I would ask on the forums over there for a compatible hard drive and then use the search function to see which company has it for the cheapest price.

Recorders: Sound Devices 722; Zoom F8; Edirol R44 Oade Concert Mod; Digimod UA5>Nomad Jukebox 3 (or Archos 605 wifi); Zoom H2; Zoom H6
Camcorder: Panasonic PV-GS300
Camera: Fujifilm X-E1 & various lenses; Fujifilm s100fs; Fujifilm S7000

Could also be worth looking into the CF mod and bypass HDs altogether.

re: the toshiba, im actually shopping for that style drive right now.

id recommend an SSD instead, all of these are on ebay and amazon new
ksd-cf18.6-128ms, 128 gb, ~$150
ksd-cf18.6-064ms, 64 gb, ~$75
ksd-cf18.6-032ms, 32gb, ~$55

battery life would be the biggest difference with an ssd

heres a great resource:

http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/HardDriveReplacement

from that you can see your iriver h10s use a 40-pin zif, at least the 20 gb model....
