Olympus DM-901 announced
« on: January 07, 2014, 11:49:14 AM »
The Olympus DM-901 is a "next generation" audio recorder with built-in WiFi so you can start and stop recording remotely from an app on your phone/tablet.  The sound files can be linked to photos taken using the smart phone camera (presumably by some sort of simple time code). The app can upload to your Dropbox account, making the recordings available to anyone who can access your account.

This recorder is aimed at voice recording, but has decent specs. Long battery life. MSRP $199. Due out in late January.

Appears to be aimed at lecture recording. With that kind of battery life, who cares if it has wifi control to stop and start? Just start it, let it run and chop out what you don't want.

If there is some gain control via wifi, that could be useful.
