Can you run an AT-822 directly into a Ro9 Mic-In?

More for an experiment than anything.   My stealth mics will be in the pit for radiohead & thought I'd just try this from the lawn off a repeater stack for ambience.   I've read posts where people run AT-853's>R09 w/ no battery box so I'd think it would work.   Thanks for any suggestions.    Chris

Yes, for relatively loud source (ie., PA amplified music), this should be fine.

Note that the AT822 doesn't sound that good from far away, but it should be matched as far as level is concerned.

Please DO NOT mail me with tech questions.  I will try to answer in the forums when I get a chance.  Thanks.

Hi Chris,
<snip> I've read posts where people run AT-853's>R09 w/ no battery box so I'd think it would work.

I've recorded quite often with AT822>R09 with no battery box. I've posted part of a recording
in yahoo group edirolr1, files section.

I generally use it to record vocal groups or pit bands at musicals. I'm pleased with what it
does. Of course it would be nicer if it were an R44 with 4 mics, but it seemed you were asking
about the AT822 single point stereo mic feeding the R09...

thanks

Hey comfortably dumb.  That's really a stupid avatar.  Glad they banned both him AND his coach for life.

the 822 has an internal battery and therefor doesn't need an external voltage source
it should be able to drive a mic input without a problem
levels will be lower than other condenser mics though - so adjust in the mix
