little "pops" on my dat master

the kind that you would hear on a CD.  thought it was from the transfer but it's on the dat as well.  only about 10 secs worth but.....
    ???

anyone have any idea what they are?  not diginoise and it doesn't really sound like static.

sounds like bad heads... my d8 started laying those down a pretty good bit before it shat the bed.  Resist the temptation to over-clean it, though... that will only make it worse

give your deck a run with a cleaning tape, see if that helps.

I do clean it.  a lot.  maybe too much as lee said..... shit it's only 2 years old.
