Title: cable lengths result in delay?
Post by: Chanher on May 20, 2005, 10:34:44 PM
I'm running a 4-track multi-track tomorrow night. one pair of mics will be hooked up using 30 ft. canare's. The other pair with 17 ft. canare's.

From what I understand cable lengths do NOT result in delay, but I wanted to be sure because some of the threads I read had conflicting ideas...

are the mics in the same location?

A difference of a 1000' might cause a problem. Nothing that short would introduce any amount of noticable latency. Electric signals travel at the speed of light, so you can imagine 13' is extremely short when all things are considered. Your microphone positions are more likely to cause delay issues.

Peace

every mic is either going to be directly on an amp or instrument, so no delay issues there. +t guys, thanks
