I'm currently working on a Blu-Ray multicam version of the Van Halen show in Phoenix in 2012, which will incorporate a newly-surfaced camera angle. I appreciate all the help I've gotten in the past with rendering issues. My question now: I've just about gotten it ready to render and author the menu, and I'd like to extract some high-res screen captures for the menu. Vegas ro and Nero both seem to generate small photos instead of a full size one. Can someone make a recommendation on how to grab a higher res pic? I have Vegas Pro 12 and Nero at my disposal, as well as the Xnview photo editor. Sorry if this is a remedial question.

I'm no video expert, but a rather simple solution would be while playing the (rendered?) file in VLC use the "Take Snapshot" under the Video menu. I think that would give you a pretty high resolution image.

In Vegas theres a button near preview window (floppy disc icon) called save snapshot to file... but you can only save as big as your source which should be 1920 x 1080 change the preview to Best Full.

Thanks, I think it was a matter of switching preview to "best". Should have thought of that!

Since VH allowed cameras (to include pro cameras), there are great photos available from almost every show - so there really isn't a need to use screen caps. Just check around on flickr and photobucket.
