LaCrosse BC 900 recharger
« on: October 03, 2005, 08:41:44 PM »
Anybody using this to recharge MiMH or NiCD AA's?

http://www.thomas-distributing.com/articlelive/articles/8/1/La-Crosse-BC-900-Advanced-Battery-Charge

I'm looking for options for powering the PMD 671. It can use 8 AA's, so I'm thinking about powering it with rechargeables.

Yeah, I have one of those, it's a real good charger, it can condition your packs by discharging/recharging repeatedly, its lcd display shows how much charge each cell took, etc.  Of course to charge 8 cells you probably want two of them.

I'm using one along with some 2500mh PowerEx NiMH batteries to power my 671.  Works great, I just wish it would charge 8 batteries at a time.  Most everyone I spoke with a rechargeable batteries highly suggested the LaCrosse BC900 and I haven't been disappointed.  I would suggest picking up an extra battery holder from Marantz though so you can just replace the packs in the field for those marathon recording sessions.

I just got my LaCrosse BC 900 today from Thomas Distrubuting. I got 8 PowerEx 2500mAh AA NiMH, 8 iPower 2300mAhNiMH AA , 4 LaCrosse 2000aHa AA NiMH and 4 700mAh AAA NiMH. The last 8 were free with the charger.

Anyway, This thing is cool. It gives individual stats for each battery, including capacity. The charger lets you refresh old batteries and has a discharge function as well as various different charge rates for each individual battery.

I'm going to cycle the new batteries through discharge and charge a few times to get the best performance out of them before I use them.

Now I know I'm a geek, drooling over this cool battery charger!
