Title: ADK SC-T samples
Post by: plucks on May 30, 2003, 04:48:31 PM
We had a BT of the SC-T comparison to the KM184s a while back.   Since I already have one BT going now, I can't set up a tracker for a second d/l.  Any help on this?
I can always spin some disks and send em out monday

Heres a BT link of the SCTs from the Kimock show, but I can't guarantee it will work
http://www.sonicsense.com/BT/skbSCTsamples.torrent

If it doesnt work, let me know,
Phil

FLAC
I was afraid it wasn't going to work, try it one more time.  I could always upload it to a server if possible.  Doesn't TS have a server?

After dinner I will check with one of my friends to see if he will let his server be used for this. But since hes on standard Road runner it goes slow so I dont know if its worth it

Not very.  I wrote up a brief tutorial for some folks on a couple bluegrass lists.  It's DNS service and application specific, but it'll give you an idea how easy it is:

Phil, I was trying that link since you e-mailed me on Friday ... no wonder I couldn't get it to work ;)

Can anyone post a *competent* bit torrent FAQ for the NT environment (Win2k pro)?  I downloaded the windows .exe but when I try to execute it it crashes.

Hey all...I am uploading the SC-T samples to Mirth's server as we speak, so hopefully he posts the info for downloading it when it's done.  Sorry for the delay

Alright, they're up! Its a ~150MB download.

rafansrule.org
port 425
taperssection/rules

You'll prolly need to use PASV mode in your FTP client.

IM/PM/EMail me if you have problems.

Oh yeah, there's a 2 user limit & the auto-ban monster is on the lurk - play nice...

phil, what do you think of these mics? My only concern is the lack of hypers as of now. I have a bunch of shows that I'm going to be back at the sound board (both indoors and outdoors) and would like to run hypers if possible.

Geoff-
I think these mics are a great way to get into the taping scene.  They are very comparable to the AKG blue line, but since they are made in China, ADK is able to knock a few bucks off.

I was quite impressed with the recordings, and it wasn't until i compared them to the KM184s did i notice any major difference.  For just over $300 for the pair, it can't be beat.

As for the lack of hypers, ADK doesn't really make them right now.  The A-51 TLs are switchable pattern, and from the word on the street, I hear wonderful things about them!
You don't necessarily need to run hypers when you are int he tapers section at shows if you set them up in the right stereo technique.  Certain times you definetly want them, but card's are a more universal mic pattern, IMO.  If you run a DIN pattern with cards, they are almost the same distance apart as ORTF, but at a narrower angle.  This may help point the mics more at the stacks when running cards if you don't have hypers.

Enjoy the samples!

Just listening to them now. They are very clear, nice low, high's arent exceptional but they are decent.
