Title: Tascam HD-P2 firewire problems
Post by: brianp on October 30, 2008, 12:41:54 AM
I just turned on my P2 to get it ready for a new show and the P2 won't recognize the firewire connection at all. It's never done this before and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I can power it off of the firewire cable with no external power or batteries, but the firewire dock option is grayed out. I've switched out cards, used a different firewire cable and even restarted my computer and nothing. So basically the P2 is saying it's not connected to a computer when in fact it is. I've also tried daisy chaining to an external firewire hard drive with the same results.

Any ideas?

I used to have some issues with that, but I think the key is to connect the Firewire cable to the PC and the P2 w/ the power Off on the P2, then turn it on after.  After a few moments, you should see the firewire icon in the bottom center of the display, then go to Menu->Firewire Dock and you should be all set...
