recommended digital sound card?
« on: May 10, 2005, 11:16:11 AM »
I recently bought the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS and am becoming dissatisfied with it.  I'll get a skip in the recording where the software (SoundForge 6.0) isn't recording and then resumes.  I've had this problem before, but I just rebuilt the PC with Windoze 2000.

Does anyone else have a recommended sound card?  I don't care if it's internal or external.  I am running out of my home deck via digital coax and would like that input on the new card.

Thanks,

Jeff

you're gonna get all sorts of recommendations.  I have been using a SEK'd Prodif Plus for the better part of 6 years now and it has worked absolutely flawlessly.  only problem is it's a european company and it can be tough to track down drivers.  there is a prodif 96 pro on ebay right now (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41784&item=7321486830&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) for buy it now of $82...(I paid like $400 for the prodif plus six years ago).

I was gonna say, those BIN's on eBay are just about what you can buy one for anywhere. No advantage to buying on eBay. There is the one used for $66 right now and another that I am assuming is used, but it's not stated for $50.

the 24/95 rocks, but I would suggest upgrading to the 24/96 :P ;D

I know this is a little late bit I have been using the Echo MIA card.  I have NEVER had one single problem with the card.

More expensive but 100% problem free!

i've had a couple weird issues with my mia, specifically not wanting to lock onto a signal...haven't tried it in a while though as i've been taping on jb3 and haven't had to transfer anything.

I have the audigy 2 platnium and it works great. I also have a M-audio duo for recording 2 track its fine. It sounds like to me that your problem might be slow cpu or not enough memory or a slow harddrive. I need more specs on what you have in order to make that determination though .
