you probably need to to disable DHT.  go to options > preferences > bit torrent.

edit:  if you can't find the older version of utrorrent I can sendspace it.

i dled BitTorrent, uTorrent does not work, atleast ver 1.6, it (BT) worked OK, still seem to have firewall issues, that were not present for uTorrent. Is there maybe an address I should add to my ports?
share ratio is just at .25
Thanks again

I wouldn't mind trying the older version of uTorrent, the newer ver I have seems to work better, so maybe the older version will as well
pm if you want, or jsut post a link here

this is version 1.6  the new one is 1.6.1

hope this works.  it should b/c when you download it all it is, is the exe file.

as far as firewall stuff did you open the same ports in your router and in utorrent??  also do not use the standard torrent ports (6881- whatever)  use a random port over 30,000.  also for privite sites such as dime you need to turn off DHT (see my post above).  also you should turn on protocall encryption (under prefferences > bit torrent).

thanks Gordon
I don't know why i am even trying to upload to Dime, i finally have bt.etree down, there are a few things i'd like but not worth learning
Gonna ditch trying to upload to Dime, for now
Error that i can't find anywhere, and not worth the head ache

d14:failure reason73:not authorized; download a new copy of the .torrent file from the trackere

that's the error.

uTorrent doesn't work, atleast the newest ver. the link you sent me to says nothing about uTorrent.
But, I do appreciate the link to the wiki help!

Did you do what Gordon suggested? Turn off DHT, if you don't it won't work. Also, with an error message like that it makes me wonder if you have an active DIME account?

I uploaded it (1.6) for ya

are you trying to start the torrent from your hardrive?? ie the one you save after you create the torrent??  or is "start seeding" checked when you create the torrent??

if so this is the problem.  on a privite tracker you need to download/start the torrent from the site/tracker and not the torrent you save when you created it.

What he said.

Here's DIME specifically recommending uTorrent:
http://wiki.dimeadozen.org/index.php/DimeFAQ:Frequently_Asked_Questions#clients

Chances are you've got some other problem, but you never answer any of our questions?

1. Do you have an active account on DIME?

2. Do you have DHT disabled?

3. Are you launching the Torrent from the DIME webpage?

4. Do you have the right ports open on your Firewall (both on your router and your computer if you're running firewalls in those places?)

but if you read the front page of dime-a-dozen, it no longer supports version 1.6.1 and higher and my guess is that georgeh is using such a version.  the newer versions of utorrent have DHT defaulted and unless you know your way around the setting, it tends to confuse more folks.

george, please stick with bt.etree for uploading (it works and since you don't often stealth, there should be no reason to keep it simple)

Alright, but uTorrent rules, and it's only a checkbox away, not that hard really...

curious if there are pro's and cons to using (or not) protocall encryption??

Only asking because it seems I can't help seed on DaD anymore (opening a window that is) as no one can ever connect to me. My share ratio is 14+ so I know how to to upload/seed/share etc. (yes, I have a green light). But last couple months no one can connect to me  Thinking my ISP has something to do about that (throttling the ports and/or my upload activity?).....Uploaded a new torrent over the w/end and that was a slow (uploading) process. Should have been going 5x faster!
