6 Volt Lead Acid Battery for a DR100mkII??
« on: February 27, 2016, 01:25:36 AM »
Greetings all,

Does anyone know if I can use a six volt lead acid battery to run my Tascam DR100mkII? The external battery that Tascam sells is a five volt. Would the extra volt burn it up?
I just bought a Lunatec V2, Thanks Mark, and I resurrected my old ECO Charge BP50 by removing the dual 4-pin XLR charging connector and replacing it on a new battery. I used to use the ECO Charge battery to power my D8 and SBM-1. Now I'd like to run the V2 and the DR100mkII. Is this doable?

Thanks,

ONT-

Why not just use a common and inexpensive USB 5V phone charger battery...? Probably need a cable made - but should work...

The 6V SLA will work fine.  I've run my recorders for days at a festival off an SLA.  I'm pretty sure I've done it with my DR100MKii, but just to be on the safe side, just connect your SLA and record something at home for awhile checking the unit every so often for heat.  If it gets too hot, unplug and ditch the idea.  I think what you'll find is that the recorder won't get very warm at all.
